Canadian Circumpolar Institute
University of Alberta

The Canadian Circumpolar Institute (CCI) at the University of Alberta proudly continues a 43-year tradition as one of the premiere northern research centres in Canada. The mandate of CCI is to promote and support research on the circumpolar north, to foster communication among northerners and northern-oriented researchers, and to disseminate information about the circumpolar north. CCI is affiliated with the Canadian Circumpolar Library, concentrating on materials in all disciplines relative to Canada north of 60, Alaska, Greenland, and all Circumpolar nations and peoples.

Most institute-sponsored research is published, creating a distinctive collection of books on the north. Individual submissions and co-publication
of northern titles is also undertaken. CCI Press emphasizes the importance of peer-reviewed manuscript publishing. Several titles in each format type deal with issues such as northern history, the environment, health, community empowerment, wildlife, politics, traditional knowledge, and northern peoples-- from northern Alberta across the Arctic to Scandinavia and the Russian north.
