Scholarly,
trade and non-fiction titles for educated readers, and academic
journals. UC Press is always interested in well-researched
manuscripts, particularly in areas of mandated interest:
Great Plains subjects, Aboriginal history and issues, Canadian
parks and heritage, environmental issues, Latin America
and art/architecture books.
The University of Calgary Press was established in 1981
and has a list of over 280 titles in a wide range of fields.
Special emphasis is placed on three areas: works concerning
the geographic regions spanning the Canadian Northwest and
the American West, including the mountain regions and Great
Plains; innovative and experimental works that challenge
the established canons, subjects and formats, with special
interest in art and architecture; and internationally focused
manuscripts with particular attention to Latin America,
World Heritage Sites, international relations and public
policy.
In
May 1999, the University of Calgary Press Digitization Centre
was established. The first undertaking for this electronic
publishing program was the Alberta Heritage Digitization
Project, which digitizes a massive quantity of Alberta's
historical records. The Press also contributes to Our Roots/Nos
Racines: Canada's Histories Online/Les Histoires Locales
du Canada en ligne.
The
University of Calgary Press manages a scholarly journals
program that publishes seven print journals and two e-journals
under its imprint. Journals include ariel, Canadian Journal
of Philosophy, Mouseion and the International Electronic
Journal for Leadship in Learning. The Press also produces
the University Calendar.
